OF SALARY AND EXPECTATIONS

Once you're on a salary, especially in public service, you're in a big mess of expectation right from every angle. Extended family syndrome, over dependency ratio will hike. If you are to share just 1k to every person tabling their complain, your salary will not last a week.

I've been on a salary since after my NYSC in 2015, I know exactly what and how it means. Being a school teacher although working with big shot schools pay well and nobody cares because they assume you're just "a teacher". Even within the family, the expectation is minimal. Someone confessed to me that he was receiving higher when he was with private sector and was eating his money in peace.

If you're earning just N1,500 daily from your hustle, it is likely you are having equivalent to the salary of a degree holder in state government and even more than a level-3 from federal government. Why do you need to think they are "special"? People have different ladder of success. The only difference is that those public servants package themselves well in a way that you think they are "big boys".

Some are collecting loans from banks and cooperative to buy cars, pay rent and other bills while you're watching them with keen eyes and admire them. Not all salary earners collect "huge" as many suppose; they just have their ways of making it look like they do or may be you're seeing it that way. If you think it's not possible for a salary earner to be broke, why are you broke when you also have your ways of making money?
